Good luck! Same boat as you. Not IT, but still have applied a lot. I think I’m up to like 220 jobs that I have applied for. It’s really all about who know and who can help you
Same to you! It will come buddy
In the same boat as you but what’s got me close is leveraging my network on LinkedIn. Once you find a position you‘re Interested in, search around the site and see if you can find someone that works there that can give you some insights. All my interviews have come from referrals or connecting with recruiters / talent acquisition managers. Good luck!
This is good feedback. I do have several referrals and have had some recruiters reach out. The problem is that some do the recruiters don’t understand specific IT language and refer me to jobs that I don’t necessarily qualify for. I’ve been hopeful for a few jobs and they end up telling me no and never give me feedback.
I understand what you are experiencing. I retired from the USAF in 2006 as a Supply Superintendent. Thought I would land the dream job that would be my second and final career. No such luck. I will be starting my 12th and final job next week at the ripe old age of 62. Best of luck to you!
Ireland is on a serious hiring drive for US ex military or feds, the renumeration is great and of course 6 weeks holiday and a beautiful place to live also we have free healthcare hehe
I wish. I still can’t find one
Have you looked at the L3Harris careers page?
Yes! I actually have referrals for 5 jobs, I’m just waiting for the process.
If you’re not tailoring your resume to each job position, you’re likely wasting your time. Every role has unique requirements and desired skills that should be clearly reflected in your resume. The key is to get past the applicant tracking system (ATS) — the AI software that scans your resume before a human ever sees it. Aim for your resume to be at least an 80% match to the job description to increase your chances of making it through.
I retired from the USN last year. Best of luck to you
Contract work is starting to open back up since the budget got approved. I've out of work since March with minimal hits but good ones.
Since the budget passed companies are reaching back out because now they have money going into this next quarter for new hirers.
KEEP reaching out to their HR by email and call them.
Northrop, Lockheed both have military hiring programs. Disney has a great hiring program and are always looking for IT
