I'm a VP at Union Bank, which just got acquired by US Bank. I work in quantitative analysis. I think by salary is a bit below market for a VP ($120K). Obviously I'd love to make more. Have those of you at heard of any discussions about raises?

Separately, what is a normal salary for that role at US Bank?

I worked at a larger credit union. I was a regional manager overseeing 130 people and ten branches. I managed about 2 billion in assets. Sales and service had massive growth in my area. How can I leverage this into a position at a smaller credit union. (Most credit unions are the size of my region). I am running into problems getting I front of people. Thanks for any advice or referrals. I am based in utah.

Serious question though: what would it take to make a secession happen? Can there be a referendum or something? It’s clear that the country is so divided that I don’t know if it makes any sense to keep the union.

Why have unions become so powerless in recent years? A decade ago, the collective bargaining units would get wage increases that matched or exceeded inflationary growth. Now we are lucky to see any positive integer offered.

Realistically, if they are merely securing my job for $100/month they are not providing value! I can protect my own job, AND pay for a decent retirement with that money saved.

My yearly income (post standard deduction+ 1.5 lacs 80c investment) is 650,000. (April 21- march 22).

I will also receive 2,00,000 joining bonus this month end.

Total income: 6.5 lacs + 2 lacs

Question:
1. Will 10% taxes(as per old regime slab) be deducted on 6.5 lacs and flat 30% be deducted on joining bonus?
Or
Only 10% Tax will be deducted on 8.5 lacs(6.5 + 2 lacs jb)?

2. Need suggestion to save tax on the above numbers.

I will work at a new agency next week. I couldn't meet the team in real life due to Covid/Distance but I spoke with them several times through Teams etc. I'm pretty confident that it will be a good experience but my exceptations and the reality could be very different.

Has your firm gone woke? My leadership is consumed by virtue signaling and social justice to the point where nothing else (even our business) seems to matter. More importantly, they seem oblivious to the fact that not everyone shares their woke sensibilities and they’ve said some highly divisive and offensive things. There is no vehicle for dissent. Thinking of leaving a firm I’ve dedicated my life to as a result. It’s a sad realization.
