How much would my tech stack and language be a factor in getting selected in faang or good product based companies?
I'm asking from getting my resume selected to getting an offer.
I read everywhere that only DSA and system design is needed, but I'm still concious about my tech stack.

Guys, my friend had her last working day last week and she thinks she forgot to fill her timesheet for her last 2 days before handing over the laptop. What can be the consequences of this? She is really worried about this
P.S she belongs to a back end team serving the firm internally charging time on only one code.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

When they ask what your ideal start date is, just tell them you’re available to start as soon as possible. They might not ask why but if they do you can just say you aren’t working right now and that you’re available to start. I wouldn’t skirt around the fact you were laid off though because there’s a chance they find out and it’s better if you tell them

Good luck with the offer. I was laid off a month ago and have had several “sure offers” fall through
People are getting laid off left and right. It’s not their job to decide if you get an offer or not, it’s the interviewers. I don’t care if you were laid off, are you kind? Did you do well in the interviews? Are you clearly interested in this job vs any other job? I would offer a week to relax knowing you have a signed start date but other than that. Tell me you were part of a layoff, get your offer, refer colleagues who were laid off. Start your job. There shouldn’t be any secrets. Maybe a fault of mine but I am extremely transparent from the first convo. I see no reason to hide anything.
Idk what I'd do, but one concern: background check will ask for your last pay stub. If you get to the background check process after a big enough gap, not telling them about the layoff might be a problem since your last paystub might become too old. On the other hand, sharing the layoff will almost certainly weaken your negotiation position
Fastest way to get employment verified
If you get the vibe that they wouldn’t like you if you were fired just chill for 2 weeks. It’s better to miss 2 weeks of pay than miss the whole job
Lie and say you’re still employed. Have a trusted friend at your previous workplace act as your reference. These are no longer the days of spending 30 years at one company - layoffs due to politics, restructuring, and budget cuts are more common even for reliable employees. If prospective employers are going to play games and use your unemployment against you, play the game right back

You don’t have to lie. Say that you want to start immediately and ask what’s the earliest date. They should be able to a accommodate unless there’s an internal reason like waiting for a training class, beginning of a pay period, your reporting managers availability, etc. The point is that even if you ask they don’t have to accommodate. I understand your urgency but nothing you can really do other than ask for a specific start date.
I would absolutely not risk it - just tell them 2.5 weeks out.
Offer won’t get pulled. If it does, you dont wanna work there anyway.

Have you told them that you’re not currently working (like you took a break)? If so, you could talk about heath insurance and how you would like to get covered ASAP.
If u have eCommerce background then feel free to dm for a position

Say your end date was august
Say that you left your last firm to take a break and explore your next opportunity
Usually start date is discussed at the time of offer anyway. Let them know you're able to start as soon as possible. Some companies require 2 weeks just to get all of your access and technology stuff set up but it varies.
Tell them you'd like to start as soon as reasonable and ask them how long the background check will take. Put it back on them to give the timeframe.

You don’t have to lie OP… it may come through in your background check or something so need to lie. You can say that considering the current economic situations, I was let go of xyz reasons and I am stoked to join at abc date. Honestly I would recommend you to take time off for yourself to rejuvenate yourself before beginning the cycle again. Best wishes to you OP!
I’ve been saying I would like to start ASAP due to some uncertainty at my firm. I’m still at my current firm till end of month.
