At my previous company, I met this person at a company event. They were freshly hired in another department but we clicked and stayed in touch. They were having a hard time wrapping their mind around the work even after a few months, to the point where they were in the hot seat for subpar performance. So I offered to help.
Their relationship with their manager started improving after that. When they started getting high praises for their work, they proposed I keep helping them navigate their assignments/projects in exchange for a fwb arrangement. The benefits were an understatement for both of us lol.
They got promoted after a year and a half off of what was really my work. I left the company for another role shortly after, but we kept in touch and still had it going for a while until it faded out.

In college I had a lab partner who was the manager of a restaurant. He told me if I did all the work I’d eat for free for the semester. Done and done

Back in the day I would give my developer a bottle of his favorite scotch to do coding outside the bureaucratic, months long release process.
Most tried and true form of bribery there is…it’s just a “gift” though!
That might be a great idea for me to work around. I already help some of my co workers with some things that I know they're super grateful about. Maybe it's time to talk about showing gratitude in other ways haha.
As long as they are working on something confidential, there is nothing illegal with that arrangement.
