The cost is trivial. I pay <$200/year on $25k with State Farm.
Isn’t ring insurance like the cheapest possible insurance? I think it’s like 1:100 so a $10k ring only costs about $100 bucks a year to insure. If he can afford $10k for the ring he can afford to insure it too. I’m a guy by the way
Why would you split the insurance? You buy the ring, you pay the insurance…not sure why your girl would be expected to pay it
How much is it and do you plan to combine finances after marriage?
I was not asked this, and honestly I thought it was already covered between what the jewelry store included as part of the purchase price and renters insurance. We also planned to combine finances so if she did ask and we dug into it and determined it was necessary I would be fine paying for it as well because it would have been our money soon anyway.
My husband paid for the insurance after he bought the ring. Now everything’s combined so left pocket right pocket.
The yearly insurance is trivial compared to the price of the ring itself, plus, how many payments are you going to make before getting married? One? two? Three tops? Seems like a weird thing to ask,
This is such a minimal expense why is anyone worrying about it.
Our rider for my wife’s 15k ring is like $25 a uear

If you're not combining your finances. Why would you insure something that isn't yours?
Meh your finances aren’t truly separated unless you have a prenup.
He bought the insurance shortly after buying the ring and before proposing.
My husband paid for the ring insurance. He already owned a home so added the jewelry rider to his homeowners policy.
Ring insurance??? 😳
I talked to someone who just paid under $1,000 for engagement ring - which kinda makes sense when marriages now fail more commonly than startup nail salons in strip malls.
(So says boomer who bought an engagement ring for $600 41 years ago and is still in use.)

Yea the half of all marriages number does sounds to high to me. I haven't run the numbers on this but I'm pretty sure it is much less than half of the number of people I know.
On ring cost I also have several friends and relatives who now wear plastic (silicone) rings. Even the ladies were them. But I guess some plastic is forever, so there's that.
We added it to our homeowners/auto insurance. $8 a month. Joint account.
