I’ve been a family caregiver for four years, and now look to return to the workforce. Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

Leadership only promotes people who kiss ass the most qho have no managerial experience and pass people who actually have experience in a manager role. Leadership never helps you with anything. A parent of one of my students told admin she thinks it's irresponsible that I won't be grading over Christmas break. I let the students know to get any work they need graded in before the break and I'll get it to it during our workdays in January. Apparently that's not fast enough for her 🙄. Is it wrong that I'm sort of pissed off by this? Should I say something?

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.

Hi! I am currently an Early Childhood Teacher, but I am interested in becoming an Early Childhood Education instructor at a technical high school. It will be a big jump from teaching K to teaching high school students but I am really excited about the possibility of working with the next generation of teachers. What are the best things about CTE? What challenges can I expect?

Class size is a big deal, in NY a new piece of legislation was signed to bring down student count per class from 34 to 25 over the next few years. How big are your CTE classes? In NYC, they’re typically about 28 students.

Does anyone have experience with ACT WorkKey assessments? Do you offer them to your students, and if so, who pays? Are these assessments of any value??

When you come back to school, are you expecting any staffing changes? Is that a good or bad thing? Do you think it should be addressed as a message from school administrators?

Anyone interested in teaching automotive technology in an Ohio CTE high school starting in the 2022-2023 school year. I’m retiring and trying to help find my replacement.

Do you know what a CLNA is? The Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment is a tool for determining CTE Program design/accountability for Perkins V. Who’s responsibility is it in your district? Has it helped at all?

Does your district have a mechanism for certification of an administrator for CTE specifically? Some US states do, others don’t.

My concern is that here in Indiana, I have taught in 3 different districts over 21 years in traditional high schools & have not ever had a student teacher or Practicum observer in my computer lab classroom. The last school I left for my current career center dropped the computer science courses I spent 10 years building and refining all together. No qualified CTE teachers available. 🤷‍♂️
