What are ways to get more vacation time?

I’m feeling a little suffocated with the standard two weeks with all my family events this year.

What is a common holiday gift for staff in a smaller biglaw office other than assistants? Thinking helpful IP person, receptionist, etc? Just cash in a card?

Does anybody have ideas on how to use 2 weeks of vacation during covid? Can’t visit family without international travel, most friends are with their family/SOs and social distancing. Pto is expiring so it’s use it or lose it. Im in NYC. Thank you!

Can my vacation home be 45 minutes away if it’s at the beach? Or does that look suspicious? I want to get in for 10% down and lower rate than an investment home

I had some major life events this year for which I had to take a large chunk of time off, and with half the year already gone, I’m getting worried about making the hours for my bonus. Is it always an “all or nothing” or do firms give prorated bonuses in certain situations?

Vacation almost all on points. Plane and hotel covered. Suggestions for car rental? Not many Enterprise/Hertz points. Ik it's not the best transfer rate, but I have plenty of Chase points.

Looking for advice: when leaving the big4, is it better to cash out your vacation balance or take all your vacation if it means you could leave the day of the performance bonus payout? Suggestions on what would be better in terms of monetary benefit? My vacation balance is full (176 hours) and my bonus would be approximately be $5000 since I was promoted… this would be after busy season FYI

What length of vacation do you usually take? I’m a big fan of taking many 4 day weekends (instead of 1 or 2 longer vacays) but apparently those aren’t encouraged in the Big Law world?

Starting a new job next month, and considering taking two days off for kids’ spring break next month. Not sure whether it’s appropriate to request time off for a new job (I would’ve preferred not to take any time off for first three months). I may just be able to just ask for a single Friday off (so 1 day rather than 2 days).

Any thoughts on whether I should proceed with the request? I just came from big law and want to make sure I’m not making a bad impression on my colleagues.

Hello, I have accepted an offer at a competitor company and sent in my resignation letter. My start date is 5 weeks from now so I put in my end date 4 weeks from date letter was signed. The manager said I had to leave the job in 2 days and the company can only play 2 weeks of work. Is it normal how they do that?

I teach 4th grade at a Christian school. I have been teaching for over 30 years but I have been at this school for 2 years. Since I have been working at this school it seems like everything I do in my classroom it's something wrong with it according to my supervisor. Recently, I was told that I am not getting a new contract for the new school year. I have to find a new school. I was told that I am not a good fit for the school.

Folks, one doubt..... I was hired as a senior consultant in dec 2021. I did not nominated for grade change till now. Will they automatically consider me for grade change or do I have to expicitely talk about it with PC ? Also if grade is changed, how is the impact on salary considering the parity check ? I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

Sadly this is where I ended up (going through divorce with 6mo infant). Abusive spouse wants shared custody when he doesn’t know a thing about taking care of an infant.. any advice would help re custody or divorce as well. We are not in speaking terms
