Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
any telltale signs of layoffs in tiger?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Wongdoody has somehow held on with no layoffs, furloughs, or even pay cuts yet. We went on a raise freeze very early (March) but haven’t had reductions of any kind. Surprises me daily.

None...yet. Every day I hold my breath.
None here. We’ve won a bunch of business during this somehow
Good for you guys! That gives me hope 👏🏼

Is it an option for agencies to cut everyone’s pay by 5% across the board instead of laying off 10-15% of the staff?
Paying for benefits might factor that? Honestly, no clue.
FCB North America is doing great. No lay-offs, no pay cuts. And that is separate from health which of course is firing on all cylinders.

I’ve heard FCB typically pays under market rates. If true, it’s looking like a good move right now if that’s the outcome.
We have not. Lots of moves to preserve headcount — ceo bonus cut, exec team bonuses cut, discretionary spending cut, promotion freezes. Keeping people protected has been leaderships #1 priority.
