It’s flabbergasting how these “mentors” behave. They’re rude, condescending, and act like they’re hiring a full time employee instead of guiding their apprentices. I started one last month and was just notified my contract will be terminated for garbage reasons (tl;dr: she didn’t communicate properly and expected professional work, specifically in graphic design, even thoughI told her during our interview I’m a newbie).

For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

What’s your work-life balance like? I feel like I’m constantly working after hours, always balancing multiple projects, hardly ever going through a phase where there isn’t a ton of critical initiatives going on. It definitely wasn’t like this when I was a more junior PMM, but as a Senior PMM, my work-life balance has severely decreased. Is this just the nature of Product Marketing?
