Yellow Belt: sure.
Green Belt and above: the issue with a DMAIC project would be the Implement and Control phases, as they take time.
In an MBB or Tier 2, projects are simply not long enough.
In Big 4 it may be different, but I don’t have any experience with those.
You may be able to do it with Kaizen, at least for Green Belt.
Of course you can do independently, but that would take significant amount of time, so I would suggest an LoA if you really want to do it.
I did green belt. It is definitely doable. I don't remember which course I did, but check your firm's reimbursement policy. Ours does up to 2k, so you can get a ton of study materials which makes things easier. All in all not a ton of study time.
I’m a black belt and was part of a focused program. Yellow and green are relatively easy.
The tests are actually pretty easy but it was the project value that can be more difficult to identify, deliver on and get confirmation for.
I passed the Master Blackbelt Test but left the org before the project delivery components could be met.
