Anyone here made the switch from IT audit to cyber? How did you get your foot in the door, trying to explore this route.

I did. Learn more, remove “audit” from your resume and start applying to places

like

Yes, got a master's in cybersecurity and my CISSP and got a cyber partner to like me

like

Even at a Manager level?

What’s so bad with audit? I’ve been reading that it’s more methodical and clear whereas cyber sounds to me like a lot of software implementations which I’m trying to get out of since the ambiguity makes me hate my life. Been doing this for 6 years now and that’s every project so far so I’m convinced that’s just how these enterprise implementations work whereas audit seems to be black and white...boring but there’s not much dependency on the client

like

What do you mean? So it doesn’t involve implementing cyber software solutions or ru just saying that makes up a small amount of the projects? What’s not structured? It audit or the implementations?

Find the SM and PPMDs in cyber in your area and get to know them. Learn the area of cyber you are interested in and ask them for opportunities to be on their projects. If they like you and your work, you’re in. If you can’t handle the work just yet, learn some more and try again.

Yeah problem is I’m not a senior or staff which makes it harder to get a shot at my level

This is very confusing. So you’re not in the cyber practice, you’re in TAS and just work on cyber due diligence for mergers and acquisitions? This sounds like some that would be easier to transfer into from IT Audit than into the cyber practice that does the pen testing and cyber technology implementation.

I know Senior Managers and Partners that have made the switch. You can do it at any level. You’ll prob set yourself back from a promotion standpoint - but who cares if you are doing what you enjoy

Try to get one of those certs such as CIPP, CISSP and start working on compliance related projects. PCI, GDPR etc.

Your tech skills (understanding networks, operating systems) needs to be better than IT Audit

DM me. I'm in data protection and privacy.

I setup my own home lab to learn how the pieces fit together and taught myself how to pen test the setup.

Free. I used Virtual Box and development licensing of Windows

Hi all,
I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?

As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

After working 5+ years and letting life happen, I ended up back with a staff title (no career/group change). Everyone said I was doing well throughout my career. But most of peers are now managers, senior managers, directors, controllers, etc. I really don’t want to compare, but how do I deal with this so it doesn’t bother me? Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel partly ashamed because all of the work I put in didn’t get me very far in my career.

Hi. I’m in need of advice and encouragement. I’m currently working as a public defender(2nd year) but I would love to pursue a solo private practice. I would like to leave the public defender because I am ready to make more money and I am no longer feeling the fulfillment I once felt. I have a family and work-life balance is a priority. What is a good way to gain experience in other areas of law as a solo practitioner? What areas of law are best for maintaining a work-life balance?

Hi! I had an interview for a job with the DOL that I applied for on usajobs. The interview was exactly 3 weeks ago today and they have called my references. Can one switch from Deloitte India to Deloitte USI ?
If yes, what is the process?

I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?

I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.

Any Advice?

Hi guys

This question may not be related. However I wanted to know from personal and family point of view how it is like to relocate from India and live abroad .
Let's say Family consists of husband , wife and a kid . I understand we will get good facilities, education, cleanliness , good air etc , however I wanted to check whether people gel up easily in the new environment? Don't they feel loneliness/ difficult to adjust? Do they look for similar asian nationalities to kill boredom?
