If you ask during the initial offer , that's fair. I've rescinded offers after they were verbally accepted, and then someone came back asking for more prior to signing the agreement. To me, that's bad faith and an indecisive person. Someone i dont want on my team.
You didn’t want to work there anyway, I’m sure there would’ve been a number of additional disappointing things in the future.
Sorry, to clarify, it has not been rescinded. Just curious if anyone has experienced that scenario.
you have to negotiate a sales job comp or the manager will think youre a loser forever
not completely, yes fully exaggerated. but you better show you can negotiate and be greedy. thats the job.
Everything happens for a reason….believe in that and move on. I never hired anyone who deserved the lowest offer….you should always target hires that deserve the best comp and tell them how rare and special the offer it is to drive motivation and start out on the right foot.
Sorry, I should’ve been more clear, the offer was not rescinded. I’m just asking if people have experienced thay
Stand your ground, worrying is only manifesting what you don’t want. They will come back with a reasonable offer.
The lowball offer means they were expecting you to negotiate.
Never happened to me. Typically they are lowballing you about 5-10% knowing a candidate will usually ask for more so they leave room for negotiating and accommodating.
I had the exact same scenario. The VP called and said he wanted to hire me while providing the offer over the phone. I told him at that spot that I would need more as it’s below what I’m making at the time.
I was really interested in the job but glad it didn’t work out because they lost me when they never got back to me.
Never personally. One time I hired someone I regretted hiring and negotiating too hard during the offer phase was a red flag in hindsight. I regretted not seeing that sooner. But if you got offered the lower part of the job’s actual range it’s almost expected to negotiate to the higher part of the range.
On Reddit I’ve been seeing it a lot this year but idk what industry. It’s a general recruiting and jobs subreddit.
I pushed an offer back with a comment that I think they misheard my current compensation and that I wasn’t prepared to change role for a lower pay (it wasnt). They came back with a 3k USD on the month improvement. They even commented this was the kind of hunter negotiation they were looking for. Best poker hand of my career so far ✌🏻
