The only way to do it to find time. Make time. You need to carve out specific blocks of time each week dedicated solely to writing or reading screenplays. Even if it’s just an hour a few times a week, consistency will help you make progress without feeling overwhelmed.
I was in the film and tv industry and pivoted to advertising to get away from it. I have a few friends who did similarly. Really glad i did. If you think advertising is not quite depressingly gloomy and tight-fisted enough, head on over to Hollywood. There is no money and everyone is terrified.
If you want to screenwrite because you enjoy it, just make it part of your routine. enjoy the process! But as a full time job….idk. Same bs. takes all the joy out anyway.
I am! Granted, it’s been like 6 years at this point. People complain about advertising, but it’s a lot more livable. I have a lot of gratitude for being here. Thank you for asking!
I found that integrating screenwriting into my daily routine helped. For example, I started analyzing scripts during my lunch breaks or listening to screenwriting podcasts during my commute. That plus a whole lot of making the time to network with others in the film industry through workshops or online communities. It's a huge way to get valuable insights and motivation too.

Find a good week to start and once you get over the hurdle you realize you can handle the workload. It is hard for the first 2 weeks though energy/health wise
Screenwriting biz is tough right now. All the studios want are movies based on existing IP. So most screenwriting is for hire only, very few script sales. Maybe this will change. But I’d say write got fun and lower expectations. 5 pages a day gets your script finished in a month.
I totally relate to this. Screenwriting for copywriter’s accountability group, anyone?

Check out content from Michael Jamin (comedy vet) and Chad Sanders (younger writer). Two guys who couldn’t be more different from each other, but both have their own unique Hollywood experiences. Each are currently using their social media platforms to bring more attention to their screenwriting work because apparently agents don’t do shit.
Check out https://MichaelJamin.com. He posts interesting information.
He's a screenwriter.
