Has anyone made the move from consulting to a data/analytics function at a bulge bracket bank (GS, JPMC, MS, etc.)? How do you like it so far? Is the pay better?

Anyone ever make the switch from consulting for a life sciences consultancy or boutique to an ops role in a fund investing in payer/provider or healthcare systems?

The thing is I'm based in a different city (southern U.S.)

My question is:

When it comes time to talk compensation, should I base the market rate for the role on my city of residence or NY?

Would it make sense to ask them directly how they determine comp for NY-bases vs. other city-based employees?
