I’m considering building up my I bonds to eventually replace my 6 month expenses emergency savings account. Any downsides I’m not considering? If I slowly ramp up and ladder, I can partially withdraw any amount if I need to after a year. Even with lower inflation in the future, I’m guessing it’s going to beat a savings account yield. Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? Has anyone dealt with a lack of praise from attorneys? I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. And once it closed, the lead attorney praised the other attorneys, and said nothing about me or my work. I might just be overly sensitive, but it kind of stung. Thoughts?

Paralegals: My firm is looking for a paralegal, and I see the job posting advertising the salary as $65-$75k, with benefits. Is this a good salary for a paralegal (Greater LA area)? I’m not the decision maker, but it’s been a few weeks with very few applicants. I’m curious if there’s something hurting the firm in its search.

Fried Frank reached out to me about an open senior real estate paralegal position they have in NY, and at first I wasn’t looking to move from my current firm, but then we talked salary (a nearly 50% raise) and now I’m willing to listen a little bit more. What are people’s thoughts on Fried Franks Real Estate team in NY?

Where do you find the time to get everything done in the day when you have multiple partners, associates and equity partners that interrupt you and want things turned around immediately while simultaneously working on deadlines? I feel like I’m the only one that can’t manage a 70+ case load without letting someone down. I constantly have to say “Can I do this tomorrow?” Etc. I don’t even have time to bill on the clock. I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

I’ve been a paralegal for about 30 years in private law firmS. As I get older, I feel like it’s time for a semi-career change. Either an office manager position or perhaps a corporate position where I can travel a little since my kids are grown and I’m an empty-nester. Has anyone made this type of transition? Advise welcome. I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

So I have my bachelors in criminal justice and I just finished my paralegal certificate course today. My attorney should be making partner this year. With that being said I told her that I would complete my certificate by the summer around the time she would make partner. Should I mention to her Monday that I completed my paralegal certificate in hopes that the raise will be bigger or should I wait until June when she makes partner.thoughts?

Any struggling paralegals here? Do you feel like your financial situation is affecting your productivity at work? I like the work I do but the pay really sucks. I feel like the fear of not being able to pay some bills on time is affecting my productivity. I’ve asked for a raise but that may not still cut it, and idk if that will go through or not.

An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.
