I think the more important thing to consider than the knowledge is the mindset. I made the reverse decision after many years in sales. The knowledge is not the question, but rather your mindset.
A couple of things that I would say to consider before moving into sales:
1. Make sure you can embrace the ‘never enough’ mindset. If you exceed quotas, expect your next one to be higher. This can be hard for people without sales backgrounds to get on board with.
2. Are you okay with being told no and shot down often? It doesn’t matter what you are selling, you will get blown off, rejected and ignored far more than you have wins.
3. Be cognizant of what the lifestyle difference is before you go. Consider the implications of travel, the like effect it will have on your WLB, expect variable pay (even if it is more comp, the variance can be hard for non-commissioned folks to deal with.)
Just my two cents.

Im have not but as a CSM you do have all it pretty much take to do sales . You just need someone to give you a shot (if you don’t have sales experience). Would you be doing the change with your current company?
