Also I’m sure there’s a reason you’re unmedicated and it’s none of my business but I really depend heavily on mine and couldn’t imagine living without it at this moment
I am absolutely not pro prescriptions. My wife suggested that I see my doctor about my focus and concentration and getting distracted. He suggested 20 mg of Adderall. I was highly reluctant but I finally gave in. I have to be honest, it has made a huge difference in all those areas. I take and cut the pill in half and take 10 mg in the morning and 10 mg at 1 PM and that has worked really well. I've experienced greater productivity and a higher amount of confidence. My drive has always been great but not like this great. Make sure that you drink lots of water and stay hydrated.
I don’t keep fidget toys ON my desk, I have some in my drawers but what I’ve found helps me the best, oddly enough, has been a hand strengthener grip. It’s just a green resistance ring, I squeeze it when I’m stuck in horribly boring meetings (which are ALL of them!) or if I have to make phone calls (also helps w/ the anxiety, gives me something to focus on other than the panic of having to call people). And an added benefit, I can open my own jars 🤣
Wow I need that! A fidget with an added benefit is next level 😂
I find fidget items to be more distracting and tend to make noise (e.g. poppers, spinners). When my tics get severe, I tap my finger on something soft, usually my thigh or arm. It helps, but nothing like medication can.
We need to end this Adderral shortage. It’s insane to me that the US can be “short” on any pharmaceuticals that large swaths of the population rely on.
I have used them in the past but found that they really don't work for me. Things around me or on me tend to help me. I will fidget with my necklace, I will twist my ring, I will flick my fingernails, I will click my tongue when no one is around, and i LOVE to click pens!
I have a bunch of fidget toys on my desk (I WFH) but I only use them when I’m on calls so I don’t get distracted and listen to what’s being said. Otherwise I’m typing or using my mouse, so it’s impossible to use them for me.
Poker chips. I riffle them sometimes.
Nope. Those never worked for me at all. I guess it's just not the same for everyone.
I love them - use the constantly. I have a variety of yhem, different sizes for different situations. Small for in person meetings, bigger fir xalls.
Nope, I get distracted so easily that it's a bad idea. Keeping the phone aside is a big one though, I'm still working on trying to get so distracted
I do have a fidget cube on my desk. Although I don't use it everyday but yes I found it quite helpful.
Yes! I have a popper that I use and it really does help. Something about it helps me to stay on task and also relieve any stress that I have. I would highly recommend giving one a try.
