Getting vacation days turned down (especially only 2….) that far in advance is INSANE
This is on them. Take mental health leave and start looking. They are taking advantage of you by being this slow to hire.
I’ve billed 240+ every month this year. I’ve billed some amount of time every single day this year including weekends. I’ve asked for a break or to get pulled off a matter but we are short staffed. Or I get told I’m the only mid-level “good enough” to do certain things, which is BS.
Take a month or two, not two weeks. Or just take vacation.
I asked my former employer to please stop adding to my plate (when I was already the firms sole litigation attorney, handled the contract reviews, deed preparations, most of the difficult clients, contract and lease preparations, some administrative work, many “asap” projects, most of the legal research, and much more) because it was to much with my medical conditions (which she was aware of and consisted of weekly medical appointments) - and she fired me. Then because there was no one at the firm to handle litigation cases I was forced to work for months to transition the litigation clients because she threatened my bar license if I didn’t, and then she refused to pay me for most of the time it took. So, I got a forced mental health leave once that finally ended and it let me see just how close to a mental break down she, and the legal profession, had really pushed me.
