Has anyone transferred to San Francisco and received a salary bump for COL? I’m an International Tax Manager making $120k in the northeast and I’d love to move

So we’re working remotely until who knows... can I move across the country to San Francisco from NYC? I want to be closer to family but don’t want to spook my employer. I would keep working New York hours - but does the distance really matter anymore?

Is it okay to ask for an increase upon passing the 3 month probation or wait until your yearly increase? I am from agency and went in house so I have lost a lot on the commissions. Is it okay to do this or should I look for other opportunities that could right away get me the compensation I need? There have been a few things that have changed recently in terms of our budget and we can’t really keep up if I stay at my current salary.

I quit my job after being offered a job making $35k more. I’d been telling my current manager for a long time that our team is worth more than the company values us at. His response was always “I don’t have any power”. His response to me quitting was “well we saw this coming”. Then my director called me saying he could match whatever the other company was paying me.
My question is why employers wait until you find another opportunity to show you how much they value you?

I'm passing an interview for IQ (Investment Quebec) for an Analyst role in a fund of funds/VC part of the company.
I can't find clear information on fund of funds, apart from what I already know through school/CFA. Any suggestions or tips?
Also, what type of salary should I expect knowing it's a Principal Analyst role (Senior level). I'm at 75k, should I was thinking of asking around 20% more but I wouldn't like to lose the position only for money as I can make it up on the market

What's salary like for an AMD and Director in San Francisco under agency versus in-house working with annual budget in the millions?

I have read many posts here regarding recommendation on places to live. I don't see anyone mentioning the east side- Pasadena, San Gabriel etc. Why these areas are not recommended?

Currently work at a boutique firm and received a lateral offer at T2 (ATK, LEK, etc.) for 15% increase in base salary (manager/principal level). In my sector, I think my boutique’s reputation is stronger, but obviously the T2’s name is more broadly recognized. Thoughts?
