Each company is different, but my god 6 interviews is a red flag to me.
Was thinking same
When we do interviews it is now more than 3. An initial 15 minute with a recruiter to make sure you are who you say you are. A second round with the hiring manager 1 hr and 3rd round with a panel of peers 1-1.5 hrs that’s it. If you can’t make a decision by then you have no business hiring people. Also the final interview is usually no more than 3 people when I do any hiring.
In my opinion, if a company requires more than two interview rounds, it may indicate inefficiencies in their hiring process. Additionally, assigning a home assignment with real company use cases to an experienced Product Manager raises red flags for me:
If you’re actively working as a Product Manager, it should be clear that you already possess the skills for this role.
A home assignment requiring the development of use cases could suggest the company is looking to gather ideas for free.
It reflects a potential lack of skill from the hiring manager in evaluating candidates by exploring scenarios interactively during interviews.
Overall, it feels like a poor candidate experience and may signal underlying issues in the company's hiring approach.
What Co and role level? Principal or staff can be 6 inclusive of phone screens and/or culture fit
That does make sense
It truly varies. I’ve had interview processes going 12 rounds just to get minimal feedback and the role to go unfilled. Just focus on the parts you can control and give it your best effort.
Call that colony out. That's atrocious
I’ve never seen companies doing that many rounds of interviews for any position. Who can you possibly interview with to have 6 rounds? Wow
I know right! I have heard once from a friend that she had to do 9 rounds once, which is insane! Anything above 3 is such a red flag, at least to me.
