Take it...
Don’t take it if there is poor upward mobility. Or limited mobility to move into different roles. Assuming you are a high performer you will grow your career faster in consulting earlier in your career than you likely will in a PM job at any bank, regardless of name recognition.
Take it
I still have the scars from my Technology Division one year internship back in 2005. If you can click with the team, you’ll love it. Otherwise, you’ll feel like an extra wheel very soon into it and the rest of the team will orchestrate events that force you to move on. Just my experience
Take it.. kpmg will always take you back
Take it. You can always come back to consulting
I’ve actually been in your exact shoes. Came back to consulting of course. Unless you’re doing real estate or infrastructure initiatives, everything else is... nonsense and fluff. You will become annoyed with the complacency and lack of urgency in people. I was one of 2 people in my group to meet deadlines (it’s the consultant in me) and deliver in a framework—this is not what the bank wants as every interaction is a bargaining moment even internally. I learned a lot and developed knowledge about real estate, infrastructure, and capital markets at a faster rate had i stayed in consulting. If your goal is to learn as much in a year and come back to consulting, go for it. Otherwise, if you can deal with slow pace, red tape, lack of innovation, and are willing to make a career out of PMO, then go for it.
Yes to everything you said. It’s all nonsense and fluff and I know I will get annoyed. Hard decision but I know I can’t be in PMO forever.
Take it unless you are in the partner track and want to be a partner in consulting
Chase the money. You can always do what you love once you have funds to support your lifestyle in retirement. When ever that may come.
Take the job
Give it a try! And you can always come back to consulting.
OP you’re still here ...PLEASE TAKE IT. Personally there will be nothing that will hold me and you said it you’re young. Mehh role at a Dope brand is way better than kinda great role at mehh brand.
Salary is????
Figure out what you will actually do as a PM there. If the work itself is not stimulating to you, than avoid
Do it!
Take it, and don’t look back.
Try to leverage the offer for more money!! If you don’t get what you want at kpmg, then leave.
Take it, it’s another way to climb the ladder, you can always go back to what you’re doing. For more.
