If money was not a criteria, what job would you do?
I had an interview with Cognizant and then got an email from HR to fill in CIS form and also along with to send all the documents. After i send all those details i got an email saying the position went on hold and to wait until they revert.
Any idea that how much time it would take for the position to be released? They did not respond when i asked the same question.

“Is it even possible to survive on this income level”. Lol. Plenty of people in NYC get by just fine on far less. You may not thrive on that income level, but you’ll be just fine.
While it's not glamorous, look at Central NJ on the Northeast corridor line of NJ transit. The commute may suck once in a while but great schools in the right area, you can possibly rent or buy a home and you won't have to stress as much. Similarly you can go a lil east in long island. Not too sure how schools are there. Good luck!
Doable, but you will most likely be living paycheck to paycheck. Living somewhere in jersey is probably your best option.
I live in central NJ and commute to NYC. What’s not glamorous about it? I’m a 10 minute drive to the shore. The bus takes an hour to get you to port authority. Train takes 80 minutes to get you to penn station. Or ferry will take you 35 minutes to get to midtown. I am making a little over 6 figures and I’m easily making payments on my mortgage (400k house), my son is in one of the best school systems in NJ (Rumson), and I’m saving a lot
With a stay at home spouse and two little kids (age 6 and 2). If so, where would you recommend living (reasonable rent, decent public schools, no more than 1 hr commute)?
Yes it is - depending on where you live - in your situation you may have a longer commute or a smaller place. I chose a combination of the two - just look out for property taxes if you buy in the suburbs. That is what made it tough for me at a similar salary with a stay at home spouse
Not worth it in New York. They will suck the living blood out of you for 160k which is crumbs for a one income family
I live in Stamford and I attend church with at least 2 single income families with 4 children that were recently promoted to be directors at PwC, that have been living in the area for several years. You can do it. Not sure what your life style needs are, but they’ve made it work so it’s not as impossible as it’s made out to be. 45 minute commute into Grand Central.
I wouldn’t send my kids to NYC schools. Either live on a good district in Jersey or Long Island with a longer commute or invest in private schools for your kids.
Don't get me wrong BT1. I am all for it. In fact that's why it was my first advice. I know Central NJ is not always the first choice for NYC relocations. My family lives there and travels to NYC. It's a great balance of commute, community, schools, and price.
Silly. I’ve been in NYC for 10 yrs. I hail from Chicago. Let’s say you were a single mom of two with a live-in mother you were all feeding. Would u still consider moving?!? 160k after taxes will easily pull you down to 96k a year. Plus as a consultant, u’ll never be home to pull your own weight. There are plenty of women in this city who earn as much as you as the *SECOND* backup source of income. Those ppl live with peace of mind. This won’t be you.
That will be very tough. 160 for a single income family will be tight. Hard to have everything you're looking for.
Which service line? If no dependents, then the salary is good at manager level in the PA industry.
I live in Staten Island. Definitely doable money-wise here. I also manage a sub one hour commute by leaving super early (like 6 am).
What market are you coming from and what is your current comp? I have no doubt you could make it in the city on that salary, but may be a drastic drop in the standard of living you are accustomed to
Second BT 1. Look in central NJ 👀
Agree with Manager 1, the NEC express train gets me to NYC in about an hour from Princeton . Most of my clients are in NJ so I’m only going to NY twice a week at most. Watch out for property taxes in parts of Central Jersey, they can be some of the highest in the country.
