Don't bite the hand that feeds.
Yeah, it's like that for every MBA program. I've heard of people getting poached around graduation time where the firm would give the MBA reimbursement as the signing bonus, but that's way down the line. My old colleague went to Sloan on the Booz MBA program and chose to go to BCG instead, she didn't have the option until her last few months.
So sit tight and focus on your grades for a couple of years.
Don't listen to BA1: only heard this happen in one case, and it for a guy going back to Eastern Europe. I do know several Deloitte sponsorees who ended up at BCG and gave up the sponsorship.
Also, don't focus on your grades, as BA1 suggested. No one cares!
Agreed. BA1 hasn’t been to b school. Grades don’t matter.
...to me in the form of a signing bonus or something? Accenture will reimburse $100K, so it’s kind of hard to pass up... feels like a ball and chain lol
*note: I’d have to return to Accenture for 2 years to get the reimbursement, for those who don’t know
Yeah I think the switch after the reimbursement would be the practically impossible part, so if that's the route, then start on it, and if you have an MBB offer, take it, if an offer doesn't come through, you have a backup plan.
I say take the free school and figure it out later
You have 3 options: 1) go to MBB without MBA, 2) go to MBA, recruit with MBB and give up ACN sponsorship, 3) go to MBA, go back to ACN, wait 2 year and go to MBB.
ATK1&SC1, true. I'm only going in what I've seen. I think SC1 lays it out really well.
@Accenture 1 you have to be in Strategy and then you just apply when the application comes around it is open twice a year depending on which school year you intend to do. It is extremely easy to get the scholarship as long as you had a good performance rating and you’re Strategy with 1 year down at Accenture you will get it. You can get awarded even before you have been accepted to any schools but you have to go to a school on the list of approved schools
Going to INSEAD! MBB loves INSEAD 😜
Can you share some insights on how you got the sponsorship?
You have to look at the probability and likelihood of @Strategy Consultant 1's options. 1 is unlikely, and 3 is unlikely. Keep asking, but I doubt you'll find many that have done 1 or 3.
Thanks all. Yes SC1 I will be looking into your option 2. I agree in that I feel t would be hard to go to MBB after returning to Accenture for two more years and I am scared of getting siloed into a practice I don’t want to stay in.
Congrats on the sponsorship and b-school! I’ll be applying for that sponsorship program in two years. Which school are you going to?
B/c that could influence your options
You should look at the probability and costs of each option: while 1 & 3 may be less likely, they happen all the time. On costs, 1 will cost you nothing. 2 will put you in debt, behind (opportunity costs) or both for years. 3 is in between the two. 1 & 3 sound like the best options to me.
Well option 1 isn’t happening since I’m deff doing the MBA haha and I’ve heard that McKinsey could possibly give me my reimbursement in the form of a signing bonus I just don’t know how common that is
Actually, I’m planning to go the same route. Have you got accepted? Mind if you drop a burner to share insights along the way?
