First-year tax staff that started end of Q3, and just had my first year-end performance evaluation meeting. Still a blank slate in terms of tax experience, but I honestly do have a slight interest in international tax. Brought it up and I was given some names to find some work opportunities in that area. Besides SALT, any other specialized areas I should try to get some experience in? Also open to any tips and tricks to help tailor my workflow and experiences for the months to come.

Switching career fields - Any advice on virtual ‘Brand Strategy’ courses/certificates/tools/websites etc?

How do I leave audit? At times I feel trapped thinking to myself there is no way life is suppose to be like this. How do you find the right opportunity? Everyone says network. But, how do I network? I keep getting recruiters asking to apply for new roles, which is what I thought I wanted because I’m not growing at my agency. But I’m so fatigued I don’t even know if I want to stay in advertising. Have y’all left or took a break to do something different? What did you do?

Let's say I can't get a product or marketing job in tech, but I could get in via sales or customer success. Does working in those roles pigeonhole you, or is it easy to switch later? If you take a job as a customer success mgr for ads, or as a partnership mgr for learning solutions for industry X, are you going to get stuck in those products (ads, learning solutions), roles (CS, sales/partnerships), or target industry (X)?

Im a third year and my current firm isn't bad and I'm pretty comfortable here. Im satisfied most of the time. There is one firm I've been keeping my eyes on because of its similarities to where I currently am (nice people, similar hours, culture).

I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
