Hello All.

Does anyone know of any good/decent resources regarding Account Management best practices?

Could be blogs/medium/videos/books? Any example AM handbooks?

Looking to develop a set for an agency for the team and want to review other methods and processes.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Honestly I’d just search on fishbowl! I’ve seen lots of good threads on the subject, especially advice for juniors

Thank you. Will look into it.

Did you find anything? I feel like the Account Management space doesn’t have the same level of knowledge sharing compared to strategy for example, who have amazing resources like Sweathead and planning dirty.

Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? I'm looking for recommendations for two areas: 1) in general laying the groundwork in a startup to have the tools and especially processes in place to scale, and 2) tactical focus on building a SaaS project. I've been promoted into a management role from Dev roots, so need to learn more PM processes to be an effective manager in day job, plus would like to start building my own SaaS solution.

Pros:

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

Cons:

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time

Been on the job hunt for the past 3 months. Applied to 200+. Interviewed with 15 companies (big tech + mid sized) but failing at either hiring manager round or ghosted after onsite. I’ve spent hours everyday applying, researching companies and prepping for interviews, watching videos, reading books, but just can’t seem to close the deal. Feeling so stuck, anxious and frustrated all the time.

Any advice how to get out of this situation?

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

For those of you in healthcare related account management, what is your healthcare background? I am clinical and getting ready to hire a higher level account manager. Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….

Career advice that I give to the people I manage- do one more thing everyday that you weren’t going to do or didn’t feel like doing- for your team or for your client. Could be notes, a follow up, a reminder, raising your hand to tackle and drive something-whatever. That little extra effort against something you didn’t “have” to do, every day, overtime will make you invaluable

No one wants to be “that account guy”. What’s that phrase mean to you? How do you avoid that label?

I want to quit without a job lined up. My agency is a dumpster fire of incompetent project managers, revolving door of creatives and culture of not holding people accountable amidst a micromanaging gossipy leadership. I just want out. Tell me it is ok and will be alright.
