While discussing the role with HR pre and post the interviews & offer, I had specifically ask the HR to tag me to Ahmedabad location as that's my hometown and I do not wish to relocate. But she has rolled out the offer for Pune location ane verbally ( isn't giving me in writing ) assured me that the location will be flexible. May I know from the fellow Globers if we have location flexibility or WFH option available? Globant India Pv

I got an offer from another company. Currently working in walmart. The main idea behind getting an offer is to ask for a salary rise. I was very much underpaid here. So I thought getting an offer will help increase my pay here in walmart by getting counter offer from them. But i am not sure if I discuss with my manager it will backfire me.Walmart

Thank you very much. I will look into it
This is recent for me but I think it’s key to have a great leader who is knowledgeable and has that mentor/coaching personality. Good question to ask during interviews.
It is definitely doable. I can’t speak for ScotiaBank but I started at Fifth Third as a Banker and moved up fairly quickly and gained experience in many fields. Like you, I came onboard with the mentality of becoming an Investment Advisor/Wealth Management. Because of my drive and my performance, I was chosen to get get my FINRA 6 and 63, and state life and health licenses as a banker. It was paid for and they even provided me with 4hrs (paid) out of my work day to study for it (3month period). I was then chosen to go and get my 7 and 66 but decided I wanted to try a different Avenue. Went into commercial and learned that side of the business. Then I discovered my passion was in leadership so I became a manager (I’ve been in a few departments). On top of that, there are many hats that you wear in each role (client relationship manager, risk and compliance manager, financial advisor, credit analyst, project manager, etc) which can open doors outside of the banking world.
My advice is think long term in terms of your own goals as well as where you think the banking industry will be. Banking won’t be going away BUT I’m fairly certain the banking you think of today will not be the same in 10 years. So, gain as much experience and learn as many skills as you can.
