I’m a junior UX/UI designer. I made a career switch from social services a couple of years ago. After completing the Google UX Design certification I did a couple of real world projects, designing products end to end. I’m interested in finding an entry level position but many entry level jobs are asking for 5-8 years of experience. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know of UX/UI or product design apprenticeships that I could apply for?

Is our industry as competitive as some say? I see a lot of people saying this and I work with a bunch of hacks (myself included). It felt like a little while ago agencies were begging to hire new talent, and most couldn’t find new people. Is it really that hard to get a job at an agency? Maybe I’m just out of touch being in this career for so long.

I will start managing the sales team I’m part of and transition from being a peer to becoming their manager. Any advice on how to make this change as smooth as possible?

Want to switch from graphic design (mostly doing print, some digital) to UX/UI. Some advice, tips on how to make a transition? Classes, videos, books, interning? How to find first projects? Thanks.

Hi, anyone ever try using a ovulation test as a positive result for pregnancy test? I had an LH surge couple of weeks back and for the past few days my breasts are tender and I am having some taste aversions like yesterday yoghurt tasted like mud. Is it normal for a Product Owner to lay out specs for how a feature should work?

I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.
