Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

it’s disgusting to see in this city how people pay more attention to the dogs homeless people have than the people themselves - it’s dehumanizing and makes me sick when people give a strained smile to the homeless person while patting their pup like come on

3L with mostly A’s and B’s. I am having the worst luck trying to find work for after school and my experience working with lawyers has left me completely dejected. I cannot get an interview to save my life. I was so excited to get an externship summer after 2L with a small business and IP firm only to get yelled at on the phone a few times for not doing an assignment correctly. Mind you, I was working FOR FREE as it was a school connected externship. That made me never want to work in the law.

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. I started out as a graphic designer. Worked for about 4yrs in different roles. Then i started a digital design role for 2 yrs and then made my transition into ux. i have been in a ux role for 5 years. But i want to steer my career towards something more creative. Like in 5-10 years I wouldn’t want to be a specialist or a ux director. I d like to be an art director or creative director. I love branding & marketing but also product. Would love something that allows me to do both?

Is $90k - $100k a reasonable salary range for a senior visual designer with 9 years of experience at a tech company? I’m seeing a lot of varying numbers, and trying to consider inflation as a possibility.

I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. This makes me very confused since I kept hearing stories of people working 60+ hr weeks as designers at ad agencies. If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

What are actionable items one should strive for when trying to grow as a designer after landing their first role? I hear a lot about ways to grow to land the first job but very little about how to improve after you know the basics.

I’m a graphic designer interviewing with a company. Is it normal to ask a potential candidate to redesign a 10 page brochure for their interview test? If not, any suggestions on how to proceed?
