Help! We have a small firm in NY and NJ and recently sent a small basket to one of the drs who referred clients to us. Client’s feedback was very nice so we sent a small basket to them as a thank you and also just to maintain good relationship. I was speaking with another attorney and she said that sending PR packages or Baskets are prohibited in NY and NJ. Is that true ? Even small gestures ? Because we were going to make PR baskets and send out for holidays. Any input ? TIA

I’m in NY and firms do this all the time. I don’t think it’s prohibited

Same.

Even if this was technically prohibited, it's such a minor harmless insignificant thing that you need not worry about it at all

She made it seem so horrible I freaked out lol

Hmmm I have never heard of that being prohibited, at least not by law or anything. I work in NY and attorneys do this kind of stuff alllllll the time. It helps to build good rapport and show appreciation for reerrals. I don't think it is a big deal at all. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

Any experience working @ Chad Jones law?
I’m currently discontent with my income.
(3rd year. Salary=80k and no performance incentive. I brought in $1.4mm AFTER partners claimed over half of fees on my big cases.)
I see CJL offers an incentive+ base but I’m curious about that structure.
Any good or bad firm culture to speak of?
Is it impossible to actually earn a respectable incentive bonus?
Am I going to have some partner come cut me out of any cases where I might actually make a solid fee?
