Your manager is a dick. Wow
This kind of stuff doesn’t happen at the SC level. Non-competes get litigated at the SVP+ level, and even then it is incredibly rare. I’d post this on the big “Covid work life” bowl, some of our lawyer friends hang out in there
Thanks!

If you want to do a power move sue for declatory relief. Not sure it applies here, but essentially it's a preemptive lawsuit that declares that forces their hands. 😀
On a serious note, politely tell your manager that while you appreciate his concern you will no longer be employed by their company as of x date. You don't need to tell them where you will be employed (generally speaking). If they object, politely tell them you appreciate but that is all you have to say. Is they threaten you with a suit, tell them you have no legal obligations and leave it at that. If they end up filling a lawsuit, check with your lawyer to see if they can get legal fees for a frivolous lawsuit.

That manager is an absolute tool. Say you’ll counter sue.
Most likely just a threat from your manager. Doubt he would actually sue as this would jeopardize the firm's relationship with the client.
Definitely a threat because it was directed to me, not the client!
Partner is threatening to sue you and not the client hiring you?
Ignore the partner, he can't do anything without ruining the client relationship

Your manager should pay you more if they don’t want you to leave
I believe if the partner sued you and lost, he’d have to pay your attorney fees... he won’t risk that.
As someone else mentioned maybe see if filing for declatory relief. consult an attorney and see if this is a viable option. Maybe hire a very high priced lawyer that will take it in a contingency basis, and really cost the partner a pretty penny.
I will look into declatory relief. The concern that I have is the damage I do that could come back to me. Plus, I really like the firm and the people and I wouldn’t want to do anything against them.
The client should just contact the other partners in the firm and say that they’ll do no more business with them in 2021 if they want to be idiots
Partner will not be able to sue until OGC clears it. Sueing a SC??? Yeah right
