Congratulations! It’s the best job ever! My one important piece of advice is to use student voice as your guide for building your library program. Every library is different, so create a library that meets the needs of your students. Best wishes in your library!
Congratulations! It is truly the best job in the building! Listen to what others tell you about the space, be open to suggestions. Allow your students, teachers and staff to have a voice about what the program becomes. Also. When some horrible thing happens, someone else has already had that problem. Ask for help. I deleted my entire collection the first time I did a full inventory and I still survived. 😉
For some reason, many people expect the librarian to be mean, strict, shusing, quiet, and uncooperative. Shock ‘em.
Ask for volunteers to help manage the collection.
Could you elaborate on this one?

Don’t turn up your nose at graphic novels! The kids absolutely love them; I found that I liked them, also 😊
I found the same thing!
Readers are more important than books. Make sure your policies, procedures, and practices prioritize students, not the stuff they borrow.
