Don’t do ICICI Lombard at all (or any other Indian company). Even though they say Cashless, it is only for hospitalization, plus they don’t cover pre-existing conditions (and almost 90% diseases can be traced to pre existing condition).
Any regular doctor visit, you will have to pay and then reclaim (which will never happen).
Cost differential- For 78days (2 people)
ICICI- 22k INR,
Atlas- 35k INR. ($550-600)
Don’t risk it for 10-15k INR!
I recently did a ton of research for my parents and realized it is not worth it. A friend suffered a lot because of ICICI. Get Atlas, plain and simple.
Wait, I'm a bit confused - tokio marine has an atlas America plan.
@BCG - I'm assuming you're referring to a different atlas than I earlier thought. Could you please clarify what's the other provider?
Go for atlas insurance. It is expensive but has best coverage even for pre-existing conditions.
I would suggest to buy insurance from like Atlas or Tokio marine. Try insubuy.com to compare insurances. Also recommend to go with comprehensive plans.
Thanks - parents were insisting considering the cost differential. Not sure how it compares to atlas America plan, so wanted to see if anyone has reviews to share.
That seals it, thanks so much!
Has anyone used Patriot insurance? What was the experience?
I used tokio marine, and the claims processing is so complicated. They are asking for past few years of medical history (which is non existent in India) instead of paying 400 bucks for a simple ER visit.
Stick to Atlas
