First off, it is great that you recognize it was becoming a problem and are taking steps to change.
When you are initially around friends/family/coworkers it is hard because there is always pressure to join in. People don’t understand why you don’t want to drink. The easiest path I found is to have a non-alcoholic drink in hand - a water or soda. And if anyone pushes why you’re not drinking I would be honest (if you’re comfortable doing so).
