Your peers do not have a path to making 300K in 4-5 years, unlike you
Just to clarify, 3 yoe but no graduate degree? If so, that’s very standard for BCG. My question is, you say outpaced by what peers, what do they do to outpace you?
Promotions at BCG are quite fast, in 2 years you will be at the level of people with ~5yoe+top MBA, two year after, you will be a project leader, the face of the project and key client facing person. I assume you will still be sub 30.
My friends in other industries def don’t get there so quickly.
Now the fact that it will be tough is a completely different story
3yoe big 4 > entry level MBB consultant is standard
I had this concern when I almost went to McKinsey after 3 years of experience in an unrelated field. Now that I have >10 years of experience I realize how silly that was. Externally the move to BCG will be viewed as a step up , you will make more money, and it will open up many new opportunities. If you do stay at BCG, your advancement will be rapid compared to pwc. Likely better learning environment too. Just a few thoughts from someone who was in a similar situation once
BCG4 got it, helpful to know being in B4. Appreciate the followup, agree it could be very significant for OP.
If it’s a good bump, not sure what more you’re expecting. Getting hired directly to Consultant level usually requires an MBA or PhD. If it’s outpaced by peers, I suggest you look for a position there
Sure, feel free to DM me
You realize you’ll be making $200K in 2 years right…?
Maybe ask about coming in as a Senior A? But honestly the laterals I’ve met have definitely experienced a tough transition to a new firm.
Consider the possibility that coming in as a C1 might actually set you up to fail.
This!! Try to come in as an SA but don’t be hung up on the title. If you come in and excel versus other associates, it will set you up well. If you come in and find it was the right level after all you’re still in a good place
MBB anyway!

I’m a C with 12 yoe … it’s all personal perspective
It’s a huge bump up in term of work level, brand, prestige, and pay coming from PwC. Also think about the long term impacts. Take it and welcome!
I am looking for an opportunity in BCG. What is the designation ladder?
Don’t worry abt title. They come rapidly.
Any tips on going from big 4 to BCG?
I just applied, interviewed, and boom
Seems pretty straight forward to me. Congrats!
How do you get paid less than the BCG associate salary after 3 years at another consulting firm? The US market is wild

Sure. Work for a bigger title on a lower salary.
Bro if it’s a salary bump why are you even considering anything else
In your offer, how many years did you have to work in order to get MBA sponsorship?
