I canāt compare to Capco, as I havenāt worked there, but Iāve loved working for PA (been here 4.5 years). Iāve recently had a personal issue and was able to take time off, no questions asked. Career progression is good - Iāve been promoted 3 times and have found it fair (is based on merit) and straight forward to get promoted.
PA have a strong strategy capability, and we do work across FS, defence and security, healthcare and life sciences, public sector, consumer and manufacturing, energy and utilities, and transport and logistics, so nice and broad!
And as I mentioned in a previous comment, great wlb and bonus.
Very good insight! Thanks for this :)
Pro
OP - hands down PA. Ticks all the boxes, donāt overthink.
All the best
If you want to do resource aug at Capco youāll fit right in
Same at PA.
ā¦(Contd):
* Good work-life balance on average (relative to other Consulting firms)
* Industry - sufficient exposure to Financial Services
* Brand - domestic and international value of brand on CV
Iād personally say PA but if you want FS exposure, Capco is probably a better fit
My understanding is that low 60s is the upper end of the Consultant range, so considering your YoE, that sounds like quite a competitive offer! Thereās another post somewhere here where another person outlines the approximate pay bands which reflects this thinking, worth a look if you can dig it up.
You only mentioned base do you have a bonus ?
We are in London, which is so expensive that is something I would consider in the criteria. Even 3k is not a huge difference that is still something to take into account your decision.
What about your future team, manager, career path? That is important too!
What is the structure for promotion? How long on average people in the same position stay before getting promoted?
Some context:
I work in product management I have 3 years of experience.
For me depending on the stage of my career and location money was a very important factor. But never above culture, people, learning, opportunitiesā¦
Thanks for this. Will definitely keep top of mind :)
Where did you relocate from, OP? I recently went through a similar experience.
I have limited knowledge of PA Consulting, and would reiterate that the main differentiating pros of Capco (in comparison) are possible exit opps globally and guaranteed FS industry work. Pivot towards more ādigitalā/agile product and dev work for FS, as well.
From what Iāve seen above, weāre competitive with PA on salary and most wlb perks, although I think everyoneās waiting to see how salaries (base & bonuses) are adjusted at year-end due to inflation.
Could I ask, how much experience you have?
And how important would be the brand for you?
Hey. Have 3.5 YoExperience. Brand is important, but value the other factors more (factors are ranked in order)
I like working at Capco, but it is slowing changing since the Wipro acquisition
What do you like about it specifically? And what changes have you noticed since the acquisition?
Pretty sure Capco has a better brand
Also Iād say if you want to work at an āagile consultancyā then PA is the better choice
Makes me realise how low D salaries are
Yeah OP, those are the main reasons. I moved to Deloitte from one of the tech consultancies and I found those reasons hold true. From a work perspective there is a higher percentage of "good" projects available. And also better exit opportunities.
I suppose for the very patient amongst us, if you make it to Equity Partner then you're laughing
