Most recent experience is analytics but would like to get closer to my sales operations roots or strategic planning & financial modeling. Companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, Adobe, Nvidia, and Google are top of mind. Thinking about newer companies like Twilio , Stripe , Coinbase as well. Interviewing at a dream company, and right from the first interview the recruiter told me we are way off on salary expectations. This was a little bit expected, as the role is requiring a few years less experience than I have and also in a much cheaper market. They already told me the salary range during this first call, but wondering if they like me enough and I get an offer, how I might approach negotiating for more. I would be making much less than I do now, but it is a dream company.

So. MBA from a top 20 program (if that matters), working in the southeastern US with 10 years experience in private practice and hospital administration. Salary thoughts?

Consulting firms, how does your company use utilization as a performance metric? And what are your targets (e.g, Junior practitioners vs senior)

Am I understanding utilization rate correctly? It’s chargeable time over total time? Charged 40 hours and had 10 hours non-charge so my utilization is 80%? If so, wouldn’t it benefit me to understate non-charge hours so my utilization is higher since they only really care about chargeable time anyways? Charge 40 hours still but only put 5 hours non-charge for utilization to be 89% instead of 80%? Or am I misunderstanding how utilization works?
