McKinsey & Company Any advice to help prepare for data science analyst role at top consulting firms (McKinsey & Company EY Boston Consulting Group etc)? Any materials, open source platform recommended to take on freelance data science project? When should I start actively looking and applying? I am a new grad who is working in tech as a marketing analyst I’m looking to pivot to marketing& sales data science consulting next year. Would like someone with similar backgrounds offer some practical tips.
Gave interview in TCS, it went pretty well. At the end, the tech interviewer asked my expected ctc. After mentioning as 27lpa, he asked if can be negotiated, told yes.
After that didn't get any feedback, its been around 5days.
Is 27lpa too much fr tcs? 🤔

Whatever floats your boat my man/woman! You may very well, but I wouldn’t overly count on the “VP” title solely. VP is one os the most inconsistent title used. It depends on what that title entails in the company you work for. Basically, your role and responsibilities. I’m feeling guilty of being a naysayer in this post and do not want to say much, but want to share what “Chief of staff” role means in our firm. It is for people want to move into an internal role because of their personal situations like not wanting to travel. Though not always, but usually, internal roles mean slowdown (in terms or promotions and raises) if not step down. I’d say take the role if the job description excites you and you are getting adequate raise to make the jump. I wouldn’t base this based on the SM and VP titles.
Given the info about your current role, it definitely sounds like a right fit. It’s just that your title here on fb was throwing ppl off. Also, now that I’m fresh in morning, i do see lot naysaying in my posts. Apology.
I would also correct myself to clarify that the CoS role in D is no less impactful or influential than other roles. You’ll have a solid access to and network with senior partners, which will mean that you can relatively easily move into another role within the firm if like that some day. Just that the growth (raises and bonuses) is slightly slower in internal roles than client facing ones. But that should matter less than the interest in the role.
Now, for your original question - not that i have any hard data to base this on but my guess (based on knowledge of SMs on internal roles) would be around 200k all in.
Currently on 180k all in working for a COO. Trying to work out if this role would make sense for me. Thanks for the naysaying and those with helpful words of advice.
Can’t imagine Deloitte bringing a senior consultant from any firm as an SM. Even though a stretch but maybe, maybe possible in Advisory/AERS. Definitely not in consulting.
I should qualify! I am currently a VP in industry. Left consulting as an SC....
Thanks for the background. I am VP chief of staff to a COO in the asset mgmt industry. The role I am doing is on par with a tough manager role/new SM role I would say, and partners at my old firm confirmed that (knowing them as the client). Thanks for the heads up about this being a slow down role...
