If you’re going to go Medical Assistant, look for programs that offer XRAY tech w/ medical assistant classes. I’m a certified MA, don’t get paid very well at my current job. MA programs last 9 months, limited xray with MA skills are 12 months. You’ll get paid starting $30+ w/ that license and skills.
If you must pick between the two, you should go for phlebotomy tech. It’s a very short program, 8 weeks. check Labcorp and UCLA health. They have options for time or float techs at good rates, both companies starting at about $28 from my research. GL
If you want to get certified as a phlebotomist, you can skip the schooling and find a job that will train and certify you while working for them. I highly recommend a donation center like biolife and some hospitals will certify you too. I did it that way, and now am thinking about becoming a MA.

I’m a social worker, but I’d think it would be worth it if that’s the direction you’re going.
Last I knew medical assistant only makes 15 an hour. Phlebotomist I don't know
Yeah it doesn’t pay a lot. Sometimes I see job openings where it might start at $18/hr but that’s when the employer requires a certificate and the physician is a specialist. For example, cardiology or osteopathic

Maybe compare job postings and see what makes most sense for the roles that appeal to you.
Thank you for your advice! I’ll do a bit more research on the postings in my area
What is your ultimate goal?
You've completed College correct?
MA and a phlebotomy pay little more than minimum wage.
My ultimate goal is to become a pediatric psychiatrist. I have my bachelor’s degree. So I’ve been looking for work as a medical assistant or any kind of work in a hospital. Sometimes I apply to clinical research positions as well

Definitely worth it if you see jobs requiring it
Alright thank you for your input
If you have a degree you fast track to a Nursing Degree. Skip MA.
Then study for the exam to enter Medical School . You'll spend a few grand to become an MA or Phlebotomist. Why waste the money and time?
Yes, it is worth. Do it, in medicine every step is important and valuable!
