Hi Everyone,

I’m currently an Immigration Paralegal and want to explore Corporate law to broaden my skills. I hold an LL.B. and an LL.M. completed in the U.S., and I’m awaiting results from the California Bar Exam. Given my background, would pursuing paralegal roles in new areas be a good way to gain practical experience? I’d appreciate any advice or insights you can share.

Thank you!

I definitely think that could be a good way to gain experience. They may consider you to be over qualified though so that may be hard to overcome.

No, I am a senior corporate paralegal; I don't recommend transitioning into a paralegal role. Firms do not move people up the ladder. Instead, aim for an attorney position in the most prestigious law firm you can. You will get limited practical experience. Firms are rather siloed now; it is not like it used to be. You will not get legal analysis experience in corporate law at all. Only the mechanics which a paralegal will guide you on once you are a corporate attorney.

What are my chances of finding a role with another company that'll let me work in BI/data analytics and build up my skill at the same time? Been thinking of leaving ACN.

I am a clinical research coordinator working in Austin, Texas. I have my Masters in Cell & Molecular Biology and have a year of laboratory research experience.

I’ve been in my position for 5 months now. I make $27 hourly which amounts to about $51,000 yearly. Am I being under paid? Are all coordinator positions hourly? As a laboratory researcher I was salary :(

How do I go about asking for a raise or should I explore other companies or medical schools that have clinical research?

Curious if anyone else is or has been in the same boat. I started as an assistant at an entertainment law firm prior to passing the bar.
