The one thing I’ll never forget was when I graduated college and my dad told me: even though you have that paper (diploma) remember that you don’t know everything and can always learn from others around you, even if they don’t have that paper. Basically reminding me to be humble and be respectful to everyone regardless of their title or background. Doesn’t matter if it’s the CEO or janitor, you treat them with respect. Both my parents only did some middle school, but they’re some of the smartest people I know, so I approach everyone with respect and never look down on others and I think that goes a long way
Huge!
Morals, manners, self-worth
Hard work, work ethic, contentment.
Here’s a quote that resonates with me as the daughter of immigrants, I think it reflects all of the lessons that my parents taught me:
When you see us succeed, please know we were raised by immigrants. We were taught perseverance, to fight for our dreams, and help those in need. We learned the true meaning of resilience. We were taught to stay humble and love the country that has given us the opportunity to work and dream, even when this country did not love them in return.
Be humble. Do the right thing.
Have integrity, treat everyone with respect and work twice as hard!
