Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?

I recommended a candidate for hire to a manager that reports directly to me. This person is a perfect match, but wanted the manager to obviously recommend. It has to be a fit. The manager just told me my recommendation is not her top pick. I feel frustrated because as much as we talk about the position, I wonder if we are mot aligned on criteria. What do I do? Do I push more for the person I want or will I cause an issue with the hiring manager? How do I get her to see this person’s value?

I’m a designer at an agency looking to land a product design position. I’ve got 8 years experience, started as a brand designer and now focus solely on web and product design. The last working date on my previous employer experience letter is wrong. It's just a one day difference. Now during background verification employer is asking to contact previous employer to correct the date.
