by 1.8 years you mean 1 year 8 months or 1 year 9.6 months???
you are assuming that we are talking about a 30 day month here....so just 0.6 of whatever month it is...surely not 6 days....🤣🤣
Don’t just switch because others are switching.. develop your skills, target specific roles and companies apply with help of Refferal and ace in the interview..
The first switch is always remarkable when you learned something from your current company and the next company want to pay for it. Try to do something in yours so at least get some knowledge to show next door
My friend,
I have no experience of a switch. However, I can tell you what happens when you don't.
I interviewed for a role 3 years into my career, they said I'm limited and should know more about the team management aspect as I'm 3 years into my career. I did my interview with Deloitte yesterday with 5 years of experience, they said I should gain more platform knowledge and get as knowledgeable as a solutions architect.
My take away: You can prepare as much as you need someone in the market will always have more expectations with years of experience you have to show. So upskill without restrictions and get your first switch before 3 years.
Tech Stack: Salesforce
Is Salesforce is ur first domain?? Or u changed
Best place to look for a new role - LinkedIn.
Even naukri's premium fails before LinkedIn.
1. Get your resume ATS compatible. Modify your resume and check it's ATS score online.
2. Update your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn profile score can also be checked online.
3. Connect to people of the same interest on LinkedIn. Seek guidance from them.
4. Study daily, make a summarised post on the topic you covered and post it on LinkedIn. Use appropriate tags which will help you find job opportunities.
I switched from my first company after completing 3 years. I was too comfortable, safe and protected in my first company . After I switched I was a victim of dirty office politics and overwork , underpaid. I worked 4 months without any salary. And not just that , they asked me to leave the org once work was done when covid had just started, had to be jobless for almost 4 months that time . The worst phase of my career . It was not the end there , I put my review of company on glass door , and they failed my BGV for 2 MNC. When I got to know about this , I had to remove that experience from my resume . And everything turned out just fine . Now , many people have had a very good experience after switching , but mine was not good . This does not mean you don’t have to , if you do get a good opportunity , take it . But make sure you are ready , and prioritise a good company over good compensation. All the best.
Within 11 months into first job, had a fight with HR and team manager, I resigned and on the day I received my relieving letter, got a call from a company through Naukri. Cracked the interview and I got my second job where I spent almost 4 years before moving on to 3rd job.
Learned about office politics from first job itself, nothing else.
As for you, I suggest working on skills that will get you your next job.
Ur tech stack bro
1.8 might be too early to switch if you are comfortable in your current company. You may learn more and have a good in hand salary by end of 2 YOE since 3+ has more job openings these days.
Have you had a conversation with your manager, it might seem like it would not lead to anything but this is one thing you must do before moving out, try to switch teams mention your long term goals and how your current role doesn't align, this is a simple conversation all must have if they're being honest to themselves
Thankyou so much guys 🙏for ur suggestions
What do you mean by having 1.8 years experience but haven't worked on any project? What does that 1.8 years experience mean?
Yes I didnt worked on any project
If you are in tech roles.. 1.8 years is way too soon to switch. You may not be able to get a proper hike or a position boost. Yes.. it's always good to pick yourself up and try your knowledge in interviews. It will tell where you stand. Also, I agree with another reply in the post. Do not switch because it's a flock move and people are switching. Everyone has their own pace and should always stick to it. Do not switch until your next role is higher than the current one.
Gain some practical knowledge, ask people how things are done practically, gather as much knowledge as possible from different sources, discuss deeply with your friends and tell the recruiter that you've been working as a [role] where you did [ your work ]. Give it a try!!
I did my first switch in almost four years. I just wanted to switch and was in a hurry. I made a switch in a very good company but failed in all aspects of negotiations.
So my take is take your time when you're switching. See the insurance policy they are providing like is it only for you or your parents also.
Gratuity and PF arrangements.
Hike on basic pay.
They play a lot of tricks to show you that they have given a lot but in the end you might feel cheated. So be careful and be patient during any switch.
So I studied in uk and singapore my undergraduate and masters in cyber security and I came to india, people who interviewed me lot of time they used get jealous and insult me and remove frustration and all. Then I found a company which they started I worked with them I used serve tea also to client do and learn technical things worked for them 1 year free never said any thing. Then one company owner deployed me on one bank project did well then some how I got frustrated with the client and I left my salary was 8 thousand rupees but learnt so much that those experiences made me as better person then lot of big companies like nomura KPMG hired me Dubai goverment gave me job more 70 lac ctc with 4 years experience now back to india lot of companies which I worked with them do not interview any more they send me offer letter and ask me to join. As fresher I would say you for 2 years just be uncomfortable learn and fail. Keep smile on you face world with be yours best of luck.
Switch after completing 2 years, take some upskilling certifications and boom you can get a hike of 50% easily, considering a standard 30% hike and another 20-30% considering you now have more to offer as you've unskilled.
