Hi, I am a woman in tech working with RPAs and I feel very shitty when my clients treat my male counterparts like they are more important than me. Has anyone faced/witnessed this before?

Is it because you are a woman or because your position (junior consultant). It can also be how you behave or what kind of impression you give. Are you a junior?

I am new to my company but no one on client’s side knows. We were literally all standing together and there were random people who had no idea who were talking to us. I don’t think they knew I was new or junior. I do have a work experience of 3+ yrs.

@op very easy to say that’s a gender bias right ? I am in the same domain as you. My team has female heavy leadership and when they talk you gotta look at the expression of the clients. Probably credibility takes some time to establish. Maybe that’s the issue here

like

Maybe see if others on your team also felt not appreciated by the client. Maybe is a general thing with the client.

First step I would suggest is talk to your team lead. Approach it as noticing when you speak, clients don't seem receptive to your ideas and see if they have any ideas why. This client may have a history of a particular bias he/she is already aware of and can work with you and their client counterpart to combat.

And PS, always assume the client has your bio/LinkedIn.

Have you ever dealt with a colleague that believes in extremely (in my opinion) outdated or even just false claims and treats them as scientific facts? I work with several older men but one of them practices "provocative therapy" as in you just play the devil's advocate with your patient and side with the negative half of their thinking. In theory I could see this working situationally, but as a whole philosophy regardless of the patient's issue I think it's ridiculous.

Inspired by one of my kids' favorite books, I penned this masterpiece of an Ode to Consulting:

One senior partner all alone
Calls two managing directors on the phone
Three associate partners at the door
Bring along another four
Five senior managers come overdressed
Six managers show up with a guest
Seven senior consultants arrive in a sack
Eight associates sneak in the back
Nine analysts come to work
ALL THE CONSULTANTS GO BERSERK!!!

Ok, I'll show myself out now... 😂

Hi all, How do you deal with having a good relationship with an ex-colleague, and then that person switches jobs, becomes a hiring manager, is hiring for a position you’re perfect for (experience + credentials) and then you reach out to them saying you’re interested and why it would be a good idea - and then they completely ghost you..I also sent an application via the website and got rejected. I am really always trying to help out old coworkwrs with getting jobs, but this is just frustrating 🥲

I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

Need advice - I've been talking to a Partner contact at a big-4 firm where I REALLY want to work. She sent my info to the managing partner in my city, but I haven't heard anything for about 3 weeks. Been playing it cool because I know these things can take time, BUT, I just got let go from my current firm. I have til 12/15 to find a new job.

Do I tell her my timeline is now a month, or is telling them I'm getting fired going to tank my chances of getting the job?

Have you had to change your start date after accepting an offer and how did it go? I told them I need to give 30 day notice and so I set my start date (incorrectly) assuming the background check and drug screen would take a few days to clear. However, the drug screen is now taking over a week and a half (still not finished, maybe tomorrow). Apparently things are much slower due to staffing issues and labs are backed up. It’s cutting into my 30 day notice significantly. Thoughts?
