Hi, I am currently an associate in advertising. I have been here for 7 months now, first job after graduating university. I am in SF. In the next few months, would like to transition to consulting and interview for EY/PWC. Any tips on the interview process since coming from advertising? Note - we do a lot of strategy and have clients that we 'consult' on the right approach and strategy. Thanks in advance, appreciate it. EY PwC Deloitte

Marketing strategy =/= enterprise strategy. Would urge you to look at the marketing practices to start. It’s a good way to parlay the skills you have been working on. EY has a very strong CMO practice, though they tend to prefer more experienced hires.

Alternatively, if your school had a recruiting pipe to consulting, talk to your career services office. 7 mo is not a lot of experience, and you could be considered for entry level.

If that’s the case, would recommend you take the hit and see if you can recruit entry level through your school pipeline. You don’t have enough experience to be considered for higher levels.

Hi Fishes,

I got interviewed at infosys two days back.
When can I expect to hear back from them.
Also all the questions that were asked to me were written coding questions(Write block of code) none were verbal.I could write all answers but none was 100% correct.

At last I asked the interviewer about feedback as in where was I wrong. He said at couple of places and he explained me where was I wrong.

Do you all think I will be rejected?

You CAN be that leader that people want to work with. 1st, self assessment is required. Be honest: As a leader, have you engaged in/accepted Attribution Bias with a dash of gender &/or race bias? (See the pic) This is something we all need to be aware of as we lead our teams, provide performance feedback, & model the behaviors we'd like to see more of on our teams. Be on the lookout for Attribution Bias in yourself & on your team. It's a hindrance to creating a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Tax Question:

I lived in VA for 8 months of 2019 and then moved to DC for the last 4 months. I got a federal and state refund from VA, but now owe DC “state” taxes because apparently they were not taken out of my paycheck. However, I changed my address in my firm’s system right when I moved... is this an issue on my firm’s part or did I screw something up?
