Hi,

I am looking to transition from banking to consulting. I have spoken with people in my network that work in consulting, and I have begun to get some interviews. I have my first ever consulting interview with KPMG next week and I am unsure what to expect….sounds like it will most likely consist of obtaining some background on myself and answer some behavioral questions.

Idk anyone at KPMG, but I would assume the process is similar to other consulting firms. Any advice is much appreciated !

There are books about each consulting firms interview process. Did you go to school locally? Your bschool’s library should have them, likely protected and time limited if there is even still a paper version.

Hi all, grad student here:

I'm currently working on my Master's thesis at Columbia for a degree in Negotiation & Conflict Resolution, focusing on organizational change. I am looking to interview people who were working as Administrative/Executive Assistants at Nest during the first six months post-Google acquisition. So basically around January, 2014.

The interviews will be confidential, with pseudonyms and/or composites as needed.

Is this you? Do you know anyone who might know anyone?

Looking for advice. Have an upcoming tech case study as a final interview stage for VP technology consulting role.

There is nothing to prepare in advance. Interviewer will brief me over Zoom and give me the case study instructions. I have the remainder of the first hour to prepare based on the scenario provided.

In the second hour, I will present my response to the case study to a panel. Afterwards, there will be an additional time for interview questions and discussion with the panel.

3rd job rejection after I thought it went really well. I had really great interviews & good feedback on my portfolio. When I ask why I didn’t get the position the answer I keep getting is “decided to go with someone with more experience”. Which is so frustrating, bc it’s just not as constructive as I’d like. Feels like I’ll never land a new job 😞. With that said, this defeated spirit could use some positivity. Share something that makes you smile! (A story, pet, drawing, memory, joke, etc)

Am I crazy for withdrawing from a role bc the interview process is too intensive? I’m just over it. I applied, had an initial call w the hiring manager and he emailed me the rest of the process. It’s THREE separate 2hr interview rounds during which I have to make a presentation and then do a take home exercise (aka work for free.) Sorry but I’ve put a lot of time/money into packaging up my experience into a thorough portfolio, website, resume, etc. (Continued)

Hi, struggling here. Boyfriend’s sister got pregnant at 20 and she has decided to get an abortion. Parents and boyfriend are encouraging her and “logically” is seems the right decisions because she and her boyfriend do not have a possible way to care for this baby. Boyfriend is a new christian and family catholic but not practicing. I’m struggling with trying to not be judgmental about the support for abortion. I honestly feel so torn between what the bible says and the situation. Any advice?

This was recently posted in a thread I was commenting on. “It frustrates me to read people’s messages from states with very few cases to act like the virus is nothing to those of us whose states have a 100k.” Syntax aside, the meaning is clear—if you are from a small state, you should zip it.

I am from a small state. Our case count will never break us out of the bottom quartile (probably never get above the bottom 5.) Does that mean I am not allowed to have an opinion?
