Hi, looking for some advice here. I’ve just received a job offer as a senior consultant (remote) at a boutique consulting firm for $115K (will bump up to $120K at the end of the year if I meet the targets for the remaining year). I have 4 yoe and I feel like this is definitely under industry standards, as I’ve heard numbers between 130-150 for senior consultants at other firms. Can anyone validate this range as industry standards and also provide some advice on how to negotiate a higher salary?

Sigh, how can anyone validate when you provide no context of the type of work/position your applying for outside of a generic consulting level. Pay varies amongst a n number of factors…

Apologies, I’m in the payments/treasury space and working with a fin tech consulting firm at the moment, and I’m working on implementations of a product. The new position will be along the same lines, however it will be more strategy based (big 4-esque consulting style)

You are assuming tech consulting payroll is highly standardized by YOE across firms - well it’s not. Without any details except you are 4 years in something, 115k for a remote position seems be ok.

Like P1 said, they are hiring for remote position. The flashy number for NYC/SF position has COL baked in already.

$115K for 4 YOE sounds about right.

I’ve been a Software Developer at FedEx for over 3 years, making 75k plus a small bonus of ~$6k. I’m fine with the lower salary because of the great work/life balance, but seeing how much others are making at similar companies makes me think I’m getting ripped off. I’d like to be making six figures, but am worried about work/life balance if I leave FedEx. Thoughts?

Is there anybody that thinks their salary is particularly greater than, or at least inspiring to, the majority on here that you’re willing to provide numbers and your career path to achieve it? Whether you’re a partner, got in a pre-IPO company, C-suite, etc. I think it’d be interesting to see numbers, COL, and career path of the top earners, because I think there is quite a bit of misconception that all top earners have IB experience lol

My husband told me that he feels parenting our 2 yr old is a burden. He’s actually a great parent and loves our son but hates all the hard work that goes with it (wake ups / getting ready for daycare / sick days / tantrums). Neither of us wants to take a step back in our career to care more time for our son, and we don’t want the other person to either. We’re considering an Au pair, but I’m mourning the fact that we, and especially he, aren’t parents that love parenting. Anyone in the same boat?
