I want to know how can I develop ability to help startups to grow. I'm in a VC firm (it's been few months only), in portfolio management team. This is my first job and I don't have a business experience, never did anything of my own yet.

Do I start something of my own? Do I join a consulting firm? Or just give a shot with startup and see how much I can add value?

Had been working as a BA/PM role at a financial firm for 3.5 years and decided to leave corporate to join my family’s small business with the mentality I’d take things over. It’s been a little over a year and I’ve come to the realization that it’s not for me. Im looking to transition myself back to IT/Tech, but am feeling apprehensive in getting the attention of recruiters with the industry switch. It is true that in service based consultings the learning curve will be better coz we'll get to work on a lot of projects compared to a captive organisation ?

I'm an immigrant from Brazil and I'm evaluating my civil engineering degree and starting from scratch.
I did internship in civil engineering during the entire period of college and worked another year after graduating, which totaled 6 years of experience. I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I have a few friends who will tell me everything from how much money they make to how much their husband spent on them for their bdays to how much their parents make?? Hi i lost majority of my money in the stock market. I married and promised my family that I will not make the mistake I made 7 years ago. Gambling. Is this an addiction I have. I keep selling stocks and taking loses buying other stock hoping it will recover but never did and sell again taking loses and buy again. It now sink in to me. Does anyone feel burned out from healthcare from this past year? I straddle tech trans and do procurement/manage the research department of a health system. Is it just me or do health systems compensate less? If I'm going to have to work long hours - I might as well get paid more going the private sector/tech company route.
