Hi recruiters! Are roles for design still as in demand as, say, a year ago? I got let go recently, and now that I'm actively applying to jobs, I feel like I'm stuck in a pool of openings from not-so-impressive agencies or openings from good companies with a huge experience demand (6+ years). As someone who has only 4 years in the field, where am I standing? What should be my focus?

Solid companies and creative teams see 4 years as strong experience, especially if your portfolio shows digital skills, latest industry trends, or familiarity with AI tools. Don’t be discouraged by job postings with high requirements. Apply anyway, highlight transferable skills, and focus energies on places valuing growth potential and upskilling.

Do companies sometimes offer "gifts of appreciation" if you're not selected for a merit increase? My manager randomly called me to let me know I was chosen for the "gift" this year bc of my "hard work & dedication", except now I'm learning other colleagues are receiving actual merits.

It was great until the candidate wants to renegotiate the base and benefits after the current company counter-offered when the candidate no longer sees the future. I’m reviewing my resume getting ready to start my job search and have a question for recruiters, hiring managers. I’m looking for a role brand-side not agency side. Specialist roles aside, such as digital, when you see someone describing themselves as a “generalist marketer” is this a resume you’d pass on? What’s the best way to make your email stand out to a recruiter?

I got an offer at Meta as a 3-mo contingent CSM that pays 2x what I make now.

Two pros: 1) Making the jump from a non-tech agency role to FAANG can be tough, so this is a great oppo in that aspect.
2) I'm living in SF on a non-tech salary, so the pay increase would be incredible.

It’s possible I could move into a similar role @ Meta once this expires, but to be safe, I'd need to start the job hunt again asap.

Thoughts on the pivot & how valuable a short-stint at Meta is for future job hunt?
