Any Spotify people here? Noticed there’s an AM role going at the moment in the UK but not sure what experience level it is. For reference I’ve got 6 years in ad sales experience with 3 years management (both in music industry). Would this be comfortable or is it worth holding out for AD?

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Please read the bill. It is not a law yet. And it applies to only H1B dependent firms
"The legislation removes visa hurdles for students and other temporary visa holders by building a bridge from F-1 student status to lawful permanent residence..." This if anything would enormously help undergrads, no?
Blame Steve Bannon who think 3 out of 4 silicon valley CEOs are Asian or south east Asian. The guy is a disease.
The 130k is an exemption minimum wage. It means company will have to show proof that they are not displacing an American worker if they are paying less than 130. Previously this amount was 60. So people can still totally get paid below 130. Just the firm would have to show proof. I think the big 4 immigration lawyers do that already(not sure of this part). Yup EY1- ton of misinformation which is leading people to panic . Especially the coverage of this that I have seen in the Indian media is alarmist to say the least
AC2 - issue on hand is, that companies usually transfer a ton of work force into US and utilize the H1B visas and offer these guys minimum salary I.e., $60k. Bill aims to offer the H1B only for the guys who are worthy thus making sure that the minimum salary offered is now $130k. That way local skill is also utilized
Here is a better link to the thread about who all may get potentially affected http://joinfishbowl.com/N4jn/D1LXKARMoA

That thread has info and also links to the bill
Well Deloitte paid an average of $ 122k for H1B last year. So for them it does not matter, because they will hire experienced hires for more than $130k as they are doing
I am totally ignorant to H1B, can someone please explain?
EY, the proposed bill only applies to H1B dependent firms. Please read the bill
H1B is a work visa that companies use to hire skilled workforce - in most cases from India, China, and other countries. The way H1B is allotted is via a lottery for all the applicants. Added advantage to students with Masters degree since they get to go in the lottery twice ( once just Masters specific lottery, second general lottery)
D1, read the god dam bill. It only applies to H1B dependent firms. There is so much misinformation
@d1 thanks. @ey1 what will be considered an H1B dependent firm? How will this bill, if approved, affect our peers?
EY1 - you need to chill. Employers who hire "too many" workers are termed as H1B dependent firms. Which is what I'm referring to.
Guys check your LCA application to figure out if your employer is an H1B dependent firm or not. And D1, I am sorry if I sounded a bit cranky but this is probably the 10th post on this and there is already speculation, misinformation on this without checking what the bill actually says and without understanding what exactly an H1B dependent firm is. My LCA application clearly says and most of the people from Deloitte are also stating that that EY/Deloitte are not H1B dependent firms
Read the rest of the sentence, D2 😂
Only in certain cases if they have been issued F-1 visas based on extraordinary ability
