Hot take: client lunches and dinners are wildly overrated. I’d much rather connect over a 20-minute coffee chat or a quick check-in than sit through a drawn-out dinner that takes up my evening and cuts into family time. Last month, I spent three hours at a client dinner that easily could’ve been handled in a 15-minute call—and the conversation felt more forced than meaningful. I know face time matters, but are we really building better relationships this way, or just checking a box? Anyone else feel like these events are more about optics than actual connection?

Being full time HCL employee.. for client I am an contract person. Also client is not giving development work due to budget thing.Contract is like for 2-3 months whenever client have workload they hire a person else no.Is it safe been in HCL for such a post?

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. Currently I work for a small company that does the construction of small cell utility poles and roof top sites for the major cell carriers like VZW, T-mobile, AT&T and so on. I am a project coordinator but I do everything under the sun. Created project tracker. Submitti bids, sourcing material, negotiating price on materials, handling post construction inspections, scheduling sub contractors, notifying stakeholders, coordinating with construction managers - property owners - building management.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

For >20 YOE, multiple companies founded, highly technical, patents, academic papers, former F10 Director… even in a T3 city, $240k TC in consulting seems low, right? Not complaining at all just not sure what direction to go for higher comp.
